The Department of Biotechnology was established in the academic year 1999-2000. The PG programme - M.Sc., Biotechnology (two years) was started in the academic year 2002. B.Sc. Biotechnology (three years), was started in 2005. The Department has a well-furnished laboratory for UG & PG separately. Name of the Student Association: Genetricks – conducts activities to stimulate ingenious thought that would aid in unleashing their latent skill sets.To develop organizing skills and active participation in curricular and extracurricular activities. Name of the Department Magazine: Biovistas is released annually.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Biotechnology courses, candidates must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with PCM (Physics, Chemistry ,Biology /Mathematics) subjects with 50%. Usually, the Biotechnology course admission is based on the Class 12 scores.

After completing the course Students can make a career in both government and private fields.
They can work in private hospitals, laboratory, and pharma companies.
In government sector, they can build career as research associate, scientist, or in the department of biotechnology.
