About the College
Kumararani Meena Muthiah College of Arts and Science was established in 1996 under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah, Kumararani of Chettinad. Her mission was to nurture morally grounded, culturally enriched, and socially responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to both national and global development.
Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah envisioned an institution that empowers young minds through value-based education, fostering knowledge, confidence, and self-reliance. Her emphasis on ethical principles, national pride, and patriotic values continues to guide the institution’s philosophy and academic endeavours.
The college has been a pioneer in promoting entrepreneurship with the establishment of its Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) in 2009. The EDC consistently conducts training programmes, awareness sessions, and hands-on workshops to equip students with the skills required to become innovators and job creators. Complementing this, the Vocational Training Centre (VTC) provides essential skill-building programmes for all first-year students.
KRMMC also hosts a vibrant ecosystem of clubs and outreach units, including NSS, NCC, Rotaract Club, Nature Club, Kalam Club, and YRC. These platforms instill values of integrity, discipline, leadership, inclusivity, and social responsibility. Through active participation, students learn to understand community needs, engage in meaningful welfare initiatives, and develop the ability to work collaboratively towards impactful outcomes.
